THE POWER OF KIRAN RAI

-

Kiran Rai is one of the most powerful entrepreneurs in the UK being featured in more than 990 newspapers and 150+ magazines, having hosted 106 major events and being recognised by numerous royal families, presidents, mayors including Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Kiran says ‘ I don’t need a social media presence. I have been very lucky to be able to pass that a long time ago.’ Five years ago he made headlines after being turned away from a Sri Lankan film for which he raised 15k by standing outside Waterloo station for a period of one month, after the Lankan producers told him to ‘ fly back home ‘ as his Sinhala language fluency was not at all perfect.

Rai hopes to bring leading Bollywood playback singers to Sri Lanka this year in addition to world renowned cricketers and sports athletes. Rai recently paired up with Ralph Pereira - a fellow Sri Lankan and created a project called ‘100 most influential people in Asia 2020’ interviewing 5 leading Sri Lankans.

Ralph said ‘Kiran is a gem to the industry and we have been travelling around the world to more than 42 countries alone on a world tour which my company ‘social box’ funded his travel. He’s like a son to me and I always make sure he does well.’

He is the brand ambassador for Social Box and South Africa is the 45th country he had visited in the last six months. Much recently, Bollywood actress Sophie Chaudhary at an awards show felicitated him, which eventually led him to host his 106th show, which includes the World Cup, Formula-1, Wimbledon and the Brit awards in London’s Royal Albert Hall.
