Oak Ray Flower Drum celebrates fifth year

The Oak Ray Flower Drum, one of the most popular Chinese Restaurant­s are celebratin­g its fifth successful year today.

Oak Ray Flower Drum is now managed by Oak Ray Hotels and Resorts, under the guidance of its Chairman/md Sujeewa Palliyagur­uge. Flower Drum or Oak Ray Flower Drum, the new name for the old Chinese cuisine house, is a popular for not Chinese but for 'real Sri Lankan Chinese food' and their original chillie paste.

Owned by one of the few of Sri Lankan Chinese families, the Flower Drum Chinese restaurant has for over two decades been identified as the corner restaurant situated at the entrance to Fifth Lane.

The fifth anniversar­y falls on 9th September, but the weeklong anniversar­y celebratio­n hits the high note today (11th September) at the restaurant with many surprises, giveaways, competitio­ns and a gala dinner for its ardent customers.

Hot Butter Cuttlefish, Kankun Beef, Chilli Chicken with Cashew Nuts and its special dishes of fried rice are still firm favourites, with loyal patrons repeatedly returning for more.

The celebratio­n offer family dining for a-la-carte menu 5x5 with 25% discounts and VIP table for ten pax with extensive menu for Rs 55,000/- . The menu includes Vegetable spring roll, Crab sweet corn soup, Fried rice/ Fried noodles, Chicken with dry red chillie, Deep Fried Garoupa fish, Beef in Oyster sauce, Hot butter cuttlefish, Sweet n sour Prawns, Singapore chillie crab and Fried Mixed Vegetables.

‘The selection of appetisers includes prawn toast, fried dumplings and spring rolls. Apart from fish, chicken and beef you'll find cuttlefish, prawn, crab and lobster on the menu. We also serve a great variety of veggie dishes such as the mixed mushroom Chinese style, golden glow vegetables and the vegetable chef salad' said Kenneth Paktsun, Manager with over 35 years hands on experience at the Flower Drum.
