Same sex marriages and a T.V. commercial

-

A few years ago a Prime Minister of a powerful nation openly stated that if Sri Lanka is not prepared to accept same sex marriages, aid given to Sri Lanka should not be provided. This bulldozing statement was rejected completely by all our clergy and good majority of the country. However, there were a few including a powerful minister of that period who canvassed vehemently to promote this cause but failed miserably.

Today we see in our electronic media especially during children’s peak hours, repeatedly how a little girl buries her head likely on her grandmother’s breast when her father walks away after beating this child’s mother severely. This grandmother too is crying with injuries on her lips. This commercial creates a fear psychosis not only to a child but even to an average adult. This is sponsored by a powerful nation having recruited a strong arm of the law of our country.

Years ago researchers found that many who indulge in same sex marriages were from homes where their mothers were physically attacked by their husbands. According to them this fear that entered a child’s mind opted them to keep away from men during their marriageable age in fear of physical attacks to them and their parents, specially the mothers.

Is this strong arm of the law whose good name is used in this commercial, ignorant of this hidden agenda? If it is a genuine effort to eradicate harassment on mothers why is a little girl highlighted in this commercial? Is it to plant this virus at this early age, and to achieve what the past minister could not fulfill.
