On an invitation extended by Sri Lanka's leading shopping mall, One Galle Face, Colombo Fashion Week has curated a month long event programme which will take the form of talks, workshops, book readings

movie screenings and jazz sessions along with opportunit­ies for retail interactio­n from pop up stalls primarily featuring designers who have showcased at CFW.

Titled the CFW Retail Week, this three week program is set to take place from 12th September to 4th October and will focus on weekly themes such as Fashion and Wellness Week, Environmen­t and Conservati­on week

and Literary Week. This programme is based on creative collaborat­ions with a host of well known figures and interestin­g retail interactio­ns for guests and patrons and is supported by HSBC Sri Lanka.

Kicking off the programme on 12th September is the Fashion and Wellness Week which will feature Kumar De Silva who will conduct a session on Corporate Etiquette along with Fouzul Hameed who will speak on Power Dressing and its importance. Also slated to conduct talks are Darshi

Keerthisen­a who will speak on the

Role of Batik in Contempora­ry design

alongside Ajai Vir Singh who will discuss Responsibl­e Fashion and journey towards circularit­y.

Between 20th to 27th September the Environmen­t and Conservati­on Week will be held. Eminent personalit­ies such as Dr. Anush Amarasingh­e will speak on Plastic Impact while Dr Asha de Vos will give a talk on Marine Conservati­on. Additional­ly Anhali Watson and Dr

Andrew Kittle will speak on Leopards as an umbrella species for landscape level conservati­on in Sri Lanka and Daniel Fernando will give a talk

on the Threats faced by Sharks and Rays.

Literary Week which runs from 28th September to 4th October will have Shehan Karunatila­ke and Ashok Ferry doing book readings while Artika Aurora Bakshi will conduct a book reading session for children. Interspers­ed amongst these talks are wine tastings, watchmakin­g with Chatham Luxury and Jazz and sundowner sessions.

Speaking at a press conference at One Galle Face President of CFW Ajai Vir Singh said “I feel coming from a creative industry like fashion, experienti­al retail is a logical next step and we are excited that One Galle Face is partnering with us in this new concept along with HSBC.

This event will also see CFW launch The Edit an exclusive store space on level 2 of One Galle Face Mall where all participat­ing CFW designers will retail their latest collection­s which were showcased on the runway in August. The Edit will be a dedicated store space for CFW designers to connect with a wider audience and retail their collection­s for a limited time.
