ARMY SC, SSC RECORD FOURTH SUCCESSIVE WIN

Army SC and CCC maintained their unbeaten record in the ongoing Under 23 inter-club cricket tournament by registerin­g their fourth successive wins yesterday. Army SC coasted to a comfortabl­e 62 run win on the D/L method against Navy SC in the match played at Welisara while SSC defeated Tamil Union by four wickets at P. Sara Stadium.

Army SC’S win came on the back of a knock of 104 by Bishan Mendis and an unbeaten 71 by Pathum Kumara which helped them make a formidable score of 271. Navy SC in their turn ended on 114 for 9.

SSC helped by a half ton from Nipun Dhananjaya overcame Tamil Union by four wickets while a five wicket haul by Amshi de Silva enabled CCC to defeat Kurunegala YCC by four wickets at the CCC ground.

In the other matches played Air Force SC, Badureliya CC, Sebastiani­tes CC and Galle CC coming out victorious against Lankan CC, Nugegoda S&WC, Police SC and Kandy Customs SC respective­ly.

At Welisara – Army SC won by 62 runs on D/L (Target 176 in 22 overs)
