Controlling the drug mafia

-

However, the most shocking and saddening aspect is the uncovering of narcotics specially from rural areas

The much concerted and comprehensive crackdown on narcotics with numerous detections and detentions being made throughout the country at present, at the behest of the incumbent president is quite noteworthy and praiseworthy.

However, the most shocking and saddening aspect is the uncovering of narcotics specially from rural areas, hitherto unknown to have been involved in this shoddy trade. On one hand it is evident as to how the vicious and victimizing tentacles of the drug mafia have spread all over the country compared to what it was many years back and on the other the shameful system failure to combat same all these years.

All previous presidents dead and alive should take the shame and blame for allowing this dreadful social cancer by way of narcotics to get deep rooted in our country.

It is a fact beyond dispute that scores of traitorous and treacherous personnel at various levels from police, prisons and few other state institutions (as revealed recently) have directly or indirectly had worked in tandem with the drug barons to bring about this socially ravaging menace to our door steps, to say the least. Besides, it is in the grapevine that few corrupt and wreathed politicians who are supposed to be willing beneficiaries of the filthy lucre that’s on offer, play a bigger role in shielding the big fish, though still not probed or proved, unfortunately.

That said, it is estimated that there are close upon five hundred thousand drug users at this moment in time.

They know for sure that their status quo would remain the same, as death sentence has been kept in abeyance since 1976. Adding insult to injury, in the meanwhile all direct and indirect tax payers of the country have to look after the food, clothing and medical, of these culprits, while they carry out all nefarious activities from behind bars. Should not this end ?

It is in this background the incumbent president is hell bent on wiping out the drug mafia, which is appreciated by all.

He positively will have his task made that much easier and for the good of all peace-loving citizens, if he only allows to carry out the death penalty as imposed by the judiciary, exclusively on narcotics related offences. This decision would also be the most effective deterrent on others, who otherwise would willingly fill the void at all levels to share the spoils.

SOONER THE BETTER
