As the weather gets colder, the nights get darker and Halloween approaches, now is the time to get your teeth into the scary side of drama. This autumn, be prepared to have chills sent down your spine with terrifying crime drama Evil – where viewers will follow a hair-raising hunt for demons.

The tantalising show, which is set to air on Alibi, is not your run of the mill crime drama as it is tied in with the eerie supernatural and laden with complex detail. The show – made by The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King – is a psychological mystery that examines the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion.

The series focuses on a sceptical female psychologist Kristen Bouchard, played by Katja Herbers, who joins trainee-priest David Acosta (played by Mike Colter), and a contractor Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi) as they investigate the Catholic Church's backlog of unexplained mysteries.

The group look into alleged miracles, hauntings and demonic possessions. Their mission is to assess if there is an explanation for the abnormalities or if something truly supernatural is at work... s

As Kristen is a married woman with four children and David a celibate priest in the making, you would be hardpushed to find romance. Yet the complexity of their mission sees the duo form sizzling sexual tension. The developing relationship between the pair will leave the audience desperate to see more and learn where things will go next.

ENTERTAINING, TWISTED AND, OF COURSE, EVIL

GIVING ‘A LITTLE ESCAPISM’

Evil is headed to Alibi alongside thrilling hits Why Women Kill and Tommy. While strong female leads head up each show, Evil's supernatural leanings certainly make it stand out from the crowd.

One half of the husband and wife duo, Michelle King, said: ‘I wouldn't call it a sci-fi show. However, it does touch on the metaphysical and there are elements of mystery and horror. ‘The primary theme is, “How do you explain evil? What is the cause of it?” Do you explain it supernaturally through religion or do you explain it through human psychology?'

Her husband, Robert, continues: ‘I think we all have some bad in us and it's about battling that bad away – but there's also some supernatural presence in our lives and we're always struggling with it. Even if that turns out to be not true, it's a good metaphor to live your life around and that's what the characters are about, too. ‘
