Authentic Thai street food by Chef Dao
Dao's Kitchen, previously at
Galle Road Kollupitiya, has moved to a new location and is now open at No.10 Palm Grove, off R. A. De
Mel Mawatha Colombo 3. Featuring indoor and outdoor seating, a full menu of popular Thai food favourites and a homely atmosphere, Dao is ready to welcome Thai food lovers to an authentic treat. Chef Dao hails from a small village in Isaan province, Thailand, where she was taught to cook popular dishes from a young age by the village elders, following traditions passed down through generations.
Dao's Thai street cuisine has delighted Sri Lankan foodies since 2004, from home catering and take-away in the early days till the little restaurant became a regular haunt in the last 3 years.
'Remember the last time you strolled down the bustling streets of Bangkok at meal time, where the mouthwatering aromas, sights and flavours of food were irresistible at each corner' she said.
'I am creating the same or more authentic Thai dishes. You just had to sit down and enjoy atangy mango salad, spicy Tom Yum Goong, steaming Pad Thai fresh off the wok, hot and sweet Kang Kiaw Wan Gai (Chicken green curry) or sweet mango with rich sticky rice? All that and much more, is now served up daily' she added.
Dao's Kitchen is now open for lunch and dinner daily except Mondays with an extensive menu of starters, salads, soups, mains and desserts and traditional beverages for dine-in and take-away. Food orders are also available on Uber Eats. Function rooms are available for family occasions, corporate celebrations and private dining, by prior reservation. Corkage free. A Sunday Thai food buffet is also on the cards and will be available soon.
Booking a table ahead is highly recommended. Expect a warm Thai welcome with a heartfelt traditional greeting and a friendly ‘Sawadee Ka’.
