All stu­dents of the school in Divu­lapi­tiya placed un­der quar­an­tine

Over 950 iden­ti­fied as as­so­ciates of Covid-19 pa­tient in Min­uwan­goda

All stu­dents of the Divu­lapi­tiya School where the 16-year-old daughter of Covid-19 fac­tory worker, tested pos­i­tive, have been placed un­der self­quar­an­tine, Pub­lic Health In­spec­tors Union of Sri Lanka (PHIUSL) said.

At least 98 in­di­vid­u­als in­clud­ing stu­dents and teach­ers were to be sub­jected to PCR tests yes­ter­day

Its Sec­re­tary M. Bala­sooriya told Daily Mir­ror that the prin­ci­pal would take steps to pro­vide res­i­den­tial ad­dresses of the re­spec­tive stu­dents for the Pub­lic Health In­spec­tors.

There are 1,318 stu­dents cur­rently study­ing at the school.

He also said at least 98 in­di­vid­u­als in­clud­ing stu­dents and teach­ers were to be sub­jected to PCR tests yes­ter­day.

EDIcord­ingly, all the teach­ers and 40 stu­dents of the class where the in­fected stu­dent stud­ied, have been in­structed to un­dergo PCR tests.

The 16-year-old daughter of the COVID-19 pa­tient de­tected from Divu­lapi­tiya on Sun­day also tested pos­i­tive for the Coro­n­avirus.

Mean­while, Mr. Bala­sooriya said over 950 peo­ple, who had main­tained di­rect and in­di­rect con­tacts with the fe­male gar­ment fac­tory worker who tested pos­i­tive for Covid-19 from the Divu­lapi­tiya area yes­ter­day, have been so far iden­ti­fied. He said all of them had not been quar­an­tined at the moment, but added they were in the process of plac­ing them un­der quar­an­tine. “We are yet to iden­tify more as­so­ciates and ac­cord­ingly, we would take prompt mea­sures to place them un­der quar­an­tine,” he added.
