- YOHAN PERERA AND AJITH SIRIWARDANA

Parliament went into an uproar yesterday when two opposition MPS questioned whether the new COVID19 cluster has emerged from a few Indians attached to Brandix Ltd who had come into the country without being tested. The question was raised by SJB MPS Harsha de Silva and Manusha Nanayakkara in the House.the latter raised the issue initially said the security chief of Brandix had got the Indian nationals out of the airport without being tested for COVID-19. Dr.de Silva said the matter had to be looked into and scoffed if it is a false claim.“brandix is a company which play an important role when it comes to Sri Lanka’s economy.therefore it is not good to tarnish the image of such a company,”he said.

Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardene who responded said “the Opposition MPS should act in a responsible manner and should not utter company names in vain.the government has not blamed the company in any way” he said.
