A/L, Grade 5 scholarshi­p exams to go ahead as scheduled: Edu. Minister

362,000 applicants will sit for A/L examinatio­n and it will be held at 2,648 examinatio­n centres, while 331,000 applicants will appear for Grade Five Scholarshi­p examinatio­n at 2,936 examinatio­n centres

A/L, GRADE 5 EXAMS TO GO AHEAD AS SCHEDULED: EDU. MINISTER

The government decided that Grade Five Scholarshi­p Examinatio­n and Advanced Level Examinatio­n will go ahead as scheduled, Education Minister Prof. G.l.peiris said.

The Minister told a press conference that the two exams will be held as scheduled in line with instructio­ns issued by the health authoritie­s.

He said special arrangemen­ts have been made at the examinatio­n centres for the students in the Gampaha district and the students who are scheduled to visit Gampaha District examinatio­n The Grade to sit will for Five the be Scholarshi­p held exam. on October 11 and the Advanced Level examinatio­n will commence from October 12.

He said these arrangemen­ts have been made for the safety of the students who have to travel to other districts from Gampaha. For them, special transport arrangemen­ts have been made as per Health Ministry’s COVID19 health recommenda­tions.

He also said special transport arrangemen­ts will be arranged after discussion­s with the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) for the to Gampaha students from who have other to districts travel such as from Colombo. “Some 362,000 applicants will sit for A/L examinatio­n and it will be held at 2,648 examinatio­n centres, while 331,000 applicants will appear for Grade Five Scholarshi­p examinatio­n at 2936 examinatio­n centres. The maximum of 160 student applicants will be ccommodate­d in each examinatio­n centre. All centres should strictly follow the COVID-19 health recommenda­tions,” Minister Pieris added.
