Dr. Bandara not removed, Director assumed duties: Govt.
Clarifying the removal of Medical Research Institute (MRI) Director Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara,state Minister Dr.sudarshani Fernandopulle said yesterday he was not removed from the post.
She said the Director appointed by the Public Services Commission (PSC) had been overseas on a training programme and returned to assume duties. The State Minister said this in response to a question posed by Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Thushara Indunil as to why Dr. Bandara was removed from the post. “Dr. Bandara was not removed. He was functioning as MRI’S Acting Director. The PSC had appointed Dr. P.V.N.P. Amarasinghe as MRI Director and he was overseas on a training programme and has assumed duties on his return,”she said.
