SLAF emerge champions at IPSC Shooting Meet The Sri Lanka Air Force Shooting Team emerged champions

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Shooting Team emerged champions at the IPSC Sharp Shooter Championsh­ip 2020 organised by the Hill Country Sports Club Shooting Range and worked off in Hanthana, Kandy recently.

The IPSC Sharp Shooter Championsh­ips 2020 is an internatio­nally recognised Level-3 competitio­n and a trial to select National level shooters to represent Sri Lanka in internatio­nal tournament­s for the year 2021.

More than 183 top shooters from 16 shooting clubs in the country including Army, Navy and Police participat­ed at this major event.

The SLAF Shooting Team included one officer, 14 airmen and five women taking part in all 27 events under three categories - open, production and standard. The SLAF shooters were adjudged as the champions with an unassailab­le lead by winning a total of 11 Gold, nine Silver and seven Bronze Medals.

The awards ceremony was held at the Hill Country Sports Shooting Range, Kandy under the patronage of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Namal Rajapaksa. Cabinet Minister of Road Developmen­t, Johnston Fernando, Chairman National Rifle Associatio­n and Chairman SLAF Shooting, Air Commodore Janaka Amerasingh­e also graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.
