SLAF HOSTS JUNIOR GOLFERS FROM ANURADHAPURA
The Sri Lanka Golf (SLG) Union the governing body of golf in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) joined hands in further promoting the development of the sport island-wide when the SLAF hosted the junior golfers from Anuradhapura at their Eagles Golf Links Course in China Bay.
The youngsters were treated to an entire weekend of golf which included a day of intensive training followed by an 18-holes golf tournament.
There was delightful enthusiasm among the juniors all of whom were experiencing playing in a links course for the very first time.
The youngsters also benefitted by an intensive training programme conducted by SLG coaching professional, Priya Hemantha who was on hand throughout the weekend to help the kids in all aspects of the game.
The 18-hole tournament on the lengthy and challenging Eagles Links Course was played in Gold Division (age group 15-18 years), Silver Division (12-14 years) and Bronze Division novices category (11 years and below).
Chairperson of junior sub-committee of SLG Niloo Jayatilake said: “My sincere thanks to the SLAF for hosting these juniors to a wonderful golfing
experience and providing all the facilities at the Eagles Golf Course, China Bay.”
“Some of these youngsters showed immense talent and properly nurtured will hopefully achieve national representation.”

The awards were given away by SLAF Group Captain, Dhammika Samarakoon, Squadron Leader, Asantha Gunarathna and Squadron Leader, Lasantha Withanarachchi.
