A one-yearold infant had been bitten by a rabies-infected jackal on Wednesday (7) evening in the Horana area, the Police said.

Instantly the Jackal had sprung up and bitten the right foot of the infant. Her loud screams while carrying the child out of the house had forced the Jackal to flee from the site sensing danger.
A group of villagers had later tracked down and killed the jackal.
