Over 8,000 placed in self­quar­an­tine

Nearly 18,000 in­di­vid­u­als have been placed un­der quar­an­tine of which over 8,000 in­di­vid­u­als are un­der self­quar­an­tine while over 9,630 in­di­vid­u­als are quar­an­tined in 85 quar­an­tine cen­tres across the coun­try.

Pub­lic Health In­spec­tors Union of Sri Lanka (PHIUSL) Sec­re­tary M. Bala­sooriya told Daily Mir­ror that over 8,000 in­di­vid­u­als were un­der self-quar­an­tine in the af­ter­math of the Min­uwan­goda clus­ter.

“Out of the to­tal per­sons un­der self-quar­an­tine, 6,000 are from the Min­uwan­goda and Divu­lapi­tiya ar­eas where the risk is still on, ”bala­sooriya said.

“The in­di­vid­u­als in 12 dis­tricts are be­ing ob­served and mon­i­tored by the 1,650 Pub­lic Health In­spec­tors.the dis­tricts are Gam­paha, K al uta ra, gal le, ma tara, mon ara gala, ma tale, bad ulla, An ur ad hap ur a, ku run egala, jaffna, rat­na­pura and Put­ta­lam, ”he added.

Mean­while, ac­cord­ing to the Na­tional Oper­a­tions Cen­tre for preven­tion of Covid-19, 9,630 in­di­vid­u­als are quar­an­tined in 85 quar­an­tine cen­tres op­er­ated by Sri Lanka Army. It also said 49,689 in­di­vid­u­als have left the quar­an­tine cen­tres af­ter com­plet­ing the quar­an­tine process.
