COVID-19 positive worker not from Mannar Bishop’s House

The COVID-19 positive worker who was said to have been found within the Mannar Bishop’s House was actually found at a construction site located next to the Bishop’s House, sources from the Bishop’s House confirmed yesterday.

Secretary to the Bishop of Mannar Fr. R. Nicholas told the Daily Mirror that no COVID-19 infected person was found within the Bishop’s House.“one priest and few staff members were subjected to PCR tests but everyone is safe,” Fr. Nicholas said.

He said Bishop of Mannar Rev. Emmanuel Fernando has not been subjected to PCR tests as he has not had any contact with the infected person.

The construction worker who was found COVID-19 positive was a person who hails from Wennappuwa, the health authorities said.
