- BY YOHAN PERERA

The main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday raised questions that it would be a serious matter if the Supreme Courts determination on the 20th Amendment to the constitution is leaked to the public.

SJB Colombo District MP Mujibur Rahman addressing a press conference about the so-called leaked Supreme Courts determination on the 20th Amendment to the constitution said that it would be a serious matter if the SC determination was leaked.

“A determination is usually sent to the President and the Speaker. Therefore, it will be a serious matter if the document is leaked,” Mr. Rahman said.

“Also, the authenticity of the document is yet to be confirmed. Therefore, we have to wait until the Speaker makes the announcement in Parliament on October 20,” he added.

Mr. Rahman however, alleged that the government may even want it debated in the House immediately once the determination is read out by the Speaker. “Government seems too eager to pass the 20th Amendment so that it will give more powers to President at this moment.
