Covid-19 spreads to 21 Districts

The Covid-19 virus that originated at the Brandix Minuwangoda facility has now spread rapidly resulting in more infected persons identified from 21 Districts as connected to the Minuwangoda cluster. This fact was stated by the spokesperson of the Health Ministry, Dr Jayaruwan Bandara in Colombo yesterday.

The number presently warded at the hospitals, is 1,552 out of which 1,396 belongs to the Minuwangoda Brandix cluster

He said that t he situation now prevalent in the country is controllable but a definite time period cannot be firmly stated.

As at yesterday evening, the number presently warded at the hospitals, as infected with Covid-19, is 1,552 out of which 1,396 belongs to the Minuwangoda Brandix cluster.

Dr Bandara said further that with the reporting of more persons infected with the virus, the date of bringing the situation under control cannot be predicted. He said that the cluster which surfaced at Minuwangoda is the 33rd Covid19 cluster reported from the Island.
