SECOND LEVEL CONTACTS IDENTIFIED

All second level contacts linked to the Minuwangoda cluster have been identified, the Military said yesterday.

Second level contacts have been placed under selfquarantine until they are transferred to centres

Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said that military intelligence have identified the second level contacts and have placed them under self-quarantine.

In a video released to the media last evening, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said that the second level contacts have been placed under self-quarantine until they are transferred to quarantine centres.

“Some people tell us that there are those who have not been quarantined. While in some cases it may take some time, we have identified and quarantined most of them,” he said.

The Army Commander said that all employees attached to the Minuwangoda apparel factory have been tested and the patients have been admitted to hospital while the rest have been quarantined.

He also said that 85 percent of the family members of the factory workers have been quarantined.

The Army Commander also said that several others linked to the Minuwangoda cluster have either been admitted to hospital or taken to quarantine centres.

Approximately 10,500 people have been quarantined in 96 quarantine centres managed by the military.
