TOTAL COVID-19 CASES EXCEED 5,000

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Sri Lanka exceeded the 5,000 mark (5,038) yesterday with 194 new cases including Brandix employees and their close contacts being reported.

At least six shops in Borella were temporaril­y closed

The Minuwangod­a cluster has risen to 1,591 persons by yesterday evening.

Meanwhile, the Bank of Ceylon (BOC) branch at Ratmalana was closed after a staff member’s husband was among the seven Brandix employees tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

The BOC said in a statement that its Ratmalana branch was closed yesterday in line with the guidelines issued by the health authoritie­s.

Meanwhile, Police said at least six shops in Borella were temporaril­y closed after three persons who had recently tested positive for COVID19 had visited the shops.

They were residents of Leslie Ranagala Mawatha in Borella.
