EMPLOYEES’ HEALTH AND SAFETY OUR TOP-MOST PRIORITY - BRANDIX

When inquired, Brandix Apparel Limited said that health and safety of employees are their ‘top-most’ priority and that all manufacturing facilities are equipped with medical centres Excerpts :

-

Q Were temperature checks carried out on workers right throughout?

Temperature checks were carried out on all employees upon entry to the facility.

Q Are the names and addresses of workers maintained in a register? Does this change when it comes to workers deployed from manpower agencies?

Personal details of all our Associates are captured and maintained in our HR database, inclusive of those who are employed on short-term contracts, the latter of which are all assigned EPF numbers as well.

Q Several workers claimed that the management required them to report to work even though they were sick. Some claim they were given medication such as Panadol and were asked to work. What are your comments? Is it true that many workers had fainted, but the management opted to sprinkle water on their faces and asked to continue work?

Brandix has in place health and safety protocols based on the regulatory authorities of Sri Lanka including the protocol for the prevention and control of COVID19 across all our facilities.

Our manufacturing facilities are all equipped with medical centres.

We have in place a threetier framework to facilitate the escalation of any issues our Associates may have. The first being the HR team present at the facility to which our team members have access, the second being the monthly Employee Council which is a meeting between employee representatives and the Management team to discuss and resolve any concerns, and the third being our independent factory counsellor who provides an avenue to discuss both personal and work-related concerns that our team members may have.

The health and safety of our employees is our topmost priority. We are conducting a comprehensive independent investigation of our factory in Minuwangoda, and in the event of any violation/s, we will take strong action.
