“My birthday is round the corner. It is in November and these days are flying. But I am not celebrating due to the Pandemic. Anyway, you can wish me and I will give you a piece of cake. Do you like chocolate cake or ribbon cake?” asked Palitha.

“Well, I have a sweet tooth so either is okay by me. I like chocolate cake especially the fudge. But if you have ordered a ribbon cake, that is also okay. Anyway, you can decorate a butter cake in different colours and it will look delicious. The easiest way is to draw lines in different directions and it will look pretty. It is called ‘Feather Icing’” explained Shanti.

“Anyway, I am looking forward to my birthday because my friends and family will wish me. It will give me the opportunity to chat and catch up with people. I know that I should not wait for a birthday to talk to people, but the days go by and I read books and the newspapers” said Palitha.

“I think that most people are lonely because they do not communicate with others. Why wait for an event to spend time talking to another? If only one can build a relationship with another and just feel sure that both are on the same wavelength, then you can give the odd call and be happy” commented Shanti.

“I must try to do that. Then I can look forward to a chat with someone I care about. If not, we tend to wait for weddings, birthdays and even funerals to meet and greet people! So expect a call from me some time soon!” concluded Palitha.
