Suragana Products, the manufacturer of quality talismans and Thovil items received the Silver award in small scale industry category at the Sabaragamuwa Entrepreneur of the Year – 2020 ceremony organized by Sabaragamuwa Chamber of Commerce and Industries in collaboration with the National Enterprise Authority.
Suranga Ruwan, the proprietor of Suragana products has come a long way amongst numerous difficulties to establish his business.
Having completed his school education, Suranga Ruwan opened up a small business of repairing electric items. As his service was often sought after by people coming to a nearby Devale, he happened to grow an interest in making talismans and cases for them.
Eventually he learned the art of manufacturing high quality cases for talismans. Today Suragana Products supplies high quality and traditionally accurate Paslo (mixture of five metals) cases for talismans, hand written accurate talismans, ghee oil lamps and many other items needed for performing Thovil and similar rituals.
In addition to Thovil items, Suragana Products has opened up two Ayervedic pharmacies in the name of Visula Sinhala Beheth Welendasela respectively located at Panadura road, Ingiriya and main street, Eheliyagoda.
One of the salient features of this Sinhala Beheth Welendasela is that each and every medicinal herb is cleaned and displayed in nicely packed baskets. All customers are welcomed with a glass of medicinal herbal drink. All medicines are issued free of charge exclusively for sick Buddhist monks by Visula Sinhala Beheth Welendasela.
The secret behind the successful journey of Suragana Products for the past decade is the tireless effort of Suranga Ruwan to maintain high quality of all the products in keeping with traditional beliefs and customs.
