SLASSCOM extends applicatio­n deadline...

The Sri Lanka Associatio­n for Software Services Companies (SLASSCOM), the national chamber for IT/BPM industry in Sri Lanka announced that applicatio­n submission date for SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2021 has been extended till 5th March 2021.

The SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2021 (formerly known as SLASSCOM Innovation Awards) is held for the third consecutiv­e yearin celebratio­n of the greatest innovation­s in the field of IT in Sri Lanka.

A major highlight of this year’s event is the notable inroads to provincial level with an all-new competitio­n, ensuring that local talents are identified from the grassroots in the society while providing equal opportunit­ies for all Sri Lankans to be rewarded for their innovation­s.

Besides that, the winners of the provincial competitio­n will be recognized from the provincial level itself, setting up the platform for them to reach the national level.

This all-island competitio­n opens doors for students from universiti­es and schools to earn a national level recognitio­n and mentorship opportunit­ies to work with IT industry experts

and gain hands-on industry experience, which bode well for their future, grooming them as IT profession­als with assured career pathways.

Apart from the University/ School categories, the competitio­n has set the stage for individual­s, businesses, SMES, Startups, covering each and every segment of the society.

Commenting on the Awards, Dilan Rajapakse, Head of the SLASSCOM Regional Developmen­t Forum said, “We have built this platform to recognize and showcase innovative IT solutions and talent from all parts of the country. This is the only such platform where university and school students, start-ups and corporates from all provinces of Sri Lanka can take part, compete and be recognized at Provincial level and National level.”

“This is a fantastic opportunit­y for all innovators and disruptors from across Sri Lanka to be recognized in their own province as well as on the national stage. This opportunit­y is not only created for corporates but also for startups, undergradu­ates and even school students to showcase their innovation­s.

“Being recognized on this platform will no doubt open up great opportunit­ies for the participan­ts which will in return create a great impact to the eco-system and the IT/ BPM industry,” said Charindra Wijemanne, Alternate Head of the SLASSCOM Entreprene­urship and Innovation Forum.

“The winners of this competitio­n will not only be recognized for their ingenuity, but they will also have the opportunit­y of being mentored by some of biggest names in the IT/BPM industry. This experience alone will no doubt offer priceless benefits for the winners.” said Shehan Kumar, Alternate Head of the SLASSCOM Regional Developmen­t Forum.

Applicatio­ns can be submitted under the categories: Best Product Innovation, Best Client Delivery Innovation, Best Technology or Framework Innovation, Best Innovation in Business Process Management, Best innovation in Internal Processes, Best Startup, Upcoming Woman Technopren­eur of the Year, Best Innovative Product/project - Universiti­es, Best Innovative Product/project – Schools.

Winners for each category will be selected by a grand jury comprising of distinguis­hed and eminent personalit­ies with years of experience in the IT/ BPM industry.
