COL – sky is the limit...?

- A LOST CITIZEN

Though the government gave and giving numerous promises to bring the much-needed cost of living down to relieve the suffering general public, one can see there is a sharp increase in all foodstuff.

During the period of one year, the prices of essential commodities have shot up alarmingly to add more burdens on the people, who are already put to enormous suffering due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.thousand have lost their jobs, livelihood and those who have been living with decent earning too are suffering from pay cuts, and slashing of other benefits, perks, allowances etc.

A good example to share with the readers, this writer when visited to a grocery shop and saw with utter amazement about the price variation within a period of barely a month! Rice from Rs. 110 – 150, green gram (Moong) from Rs. 260 to Rs. 750 (!!) veggies all varieties are over 300 – 400 per kg and many others have gone up in prices beyond the reach of ordinary citizens.

This is certainly not the ‘change’ the people have anticipated. It is entirely in contrast to what people have expected after the regime change. Govt. has time to talk about UNHRC affairs, brewing conflicts within the parties, COVID burials etc., but finds no time to address the poor man’s day-to-day issues. If the trend continues, the public would assume this government is also ONLY for the elite class, there is no mercy for the poor and down trodden.
