THE FIRST SCREENING OF BONJOUR CINEMA IS COMING SOON !
Save the date for the 2021 launch of Bonjour cinema, which will celebrate women empowerment on International Women’s Day through the movie La belle saison (‘Summertime’) by Catherine Corsini. The screenings will continue the following week during the Francophonie Festival (March 13-25), through a Franco-belgian coproduction, La promesse de l’aube (‘The promise at dawn’) by Eric Barbier (2016, 2h11), adapted from the eponymous novel by Romain Gary.
A BELLE SAISON (2015,1h45)
Year 1971, Delphine is 23. Being the daughter of a farmer, she moved to Paris to gain financial independence; she dreams of running her own farm, an unthinkable project for a woman at the time. Carole is Parisian. She is 35 years old. While being in a relationship with Manuel, she actively participates in the beginnings of feminism. When Delphine and Carole meet, their love story turns their lives upside down. But Delphine is forced to return to the farm. Carole follows her. Once there, they are forced to face another reality.

From his difficult childhood in Poland, through his adolescence under the sun of Nice, to his exploits as an aviator in Africa during the Second World War, Romain Gary lived an extraordinary life. But his determination to live a thousand lives, to become a remarkable man and a famous writer, is only due to his mother Nina.
The screenings are free and open to all aduts above 18 years old. The events will take place physically, strictly adhering to all health guidelines against COVID-19. Bonjour cinema is organized with the support of Ceylon Theatres, Institut Français, ARTRA Magazine and Alliance Française de Kotte in Colombo. Seeking more French films to watch?
