Fail to highlight the plight of thousands left destitute due to terrorism :Fernandopulle

-

Though there are so many establishments, politicians and individuals who talk much about human rights, there was no one to pay attention to the injustice inflicted on herself and her two children after the brutal assassination of her husband, Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, the late UPFA senior politician and minister, Primary Healthcare, Epidemics and Covid Disease Control State Minister Dr. Sudharshini Fernandopulle said.

It is extremely sad and painful that those human rights crusaders who parrot about the alleged human rights violations on the instigation of the Tamil Disapora, never talk about thousands of widows, their children and close family members who have become destitute and helpless after the breadwinners of their families perished due to terrorism, she added.

Addressing the 13th commemorative ceremony of late Minister Fernandopulle at the ‘Fernandopulle Memorial Statue’ at Weliweriya yesterday, Minister Fernandopulle paid tribute and her gratitude to those who had gathered at the statue of late Minister Jeyaraj Fernnadopulle without invitation but to pay homage to him.

The court case related to the murder of my husband by the LTTE still goes on. I don’t know what would be the final outcome of this case. But, I or my children and those who were near and dear to him would not get him back whatever the verdict of the court. We lost him for ever and the pain is to stay. I don’t think those who talk about human rights as a way of living would ever feel what we are going through,” Dr. Mrs. Fernandopulle stressed.

Dr. Mrs. Fernandopulle made a plea to political parties and politicians to get together under one umbrella to fight and eradicate terrorism and separatism in Sri Lanka to prevent future generations becoming victims of the menace.
