Lockdowns across many countries have helped cut carbon emissions but many climate experts say that lower carbon emissions levels during 2020 will not make a significan­t impact on the persistent climate crisis. according to reports, 2020 was ranked as the hottest on record in a tie with 2016 and 2019 despite the cooling effect of the cyclical natural climate phenomenon.

The decade 2011-20 was the hottest on record.the United Nations World Meteorolog­ical Organizati­on affirms in 2020 the global mean temperatur­e was up to 1.28 C higher than pre-industrial conditions.the alarming rise in global temperatur­e reminds us of the need to act promptly.the big economies have a vital role to paly in the battle against climate change. Countries like the USA and China should opt for renewable energy sources setting an example for other countries.
