ARAVINDA MEETS PLAYERS OVER CONTRACT ISSUES

-

Former captain and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Cricket Committee Aravinda de Silva met national cricketers who had expressed concerns over a few of the clauses in the new player contracts, it is learnt. The meeting, according to sources, took place on Thursday evening at SLC.

“A few senior players attended the meeting and the others joined via zoom,” the source, familiar to the development, said.

“It was explained to the players, about the contract clauses, and they seemed “almost” satisfied”, the source said.

Tom Moody, the Director of Cricket has also been kept in loop.

According to the source, players who are in the touring squad to Bangladesh will be given tour contracts to sign for the time being.

It it understood that players will see significant cuts to their annual salaries in the proposed contracts, ostensibly due to the national team’s poor performances in the recent past.

There is also special emphasis on fitness of players, an area that was found lacking among the national cricketers.
