20th anniversary of my Beloved son Niroshan Srideva

- LOVING DAD DR.C.SRIDEVAAND FAMILY

Your last smile still afresh in my heart! Niroshan was a final year medical student at Sri Jayewardenepura medical faculty. On July 6, he succumbed to the stab injuries of unknown assailants at his residence in Kollupitiya on July 6, 2001, in trying to save his father, by sacrificing his life. He had his last breath on my lap with a small smile on his face which I can never forget in my life. As 20 years have gone by, the murderers have escaped from the clutches of the authorities.

He had been a very popular student among his colleagues and staff. He excelled in his studies and attracted so many by his personal qualities and behaviour. Apart from his busy academic work he was an active member of Sri Sathya Sai Baba Samithi of Colombo and took part in social and Seva activities. He was an excellent Bajan singer. He has been in Sai activities from the age of eight years, had blessings and interview with swami too. Still the Sai brothers and sisters miss him a lot and always remember of his service to Sai organisation.

In fact he received his admission to the medical faculty at the last moment with Swami’s blessings where one day at 12 midnight I received a call from Swami’s residence at Puttaparthi and the message was that he would be selected for medicine. Just a short and brief one. This was because we were terribly worried as he missed his cut off marks of selection by just one mark. That was because of his affection and prayers to swami and also abiding by the code of conduct as laid down by him.

It was a great mental agony and worry to have lost a great son like him in the prime of his life and at the apex of his glory, and still remains as an agonizing injury in my heart and memory. I firmly believe that his soul bereft of another birth is merged with swami’s pure consciousness, the almighty god.
