GI pipes case against Finance Minister Basil postponed due to the pandemic situation

Alleged to have misappropr­iated Rs.36.5 million from the

Divi Neguma Developmen­t Department during the 2015 Presidenti­al Election

A case filed against Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and former Director-general of Divi Neguma Department Kithsiri Ranawaka for allegedly misappropr­iating Rs.36.5 million of funds belonging to Divi Neguma Department to purchase GI pipes was yesterday postponed for November 16 by Colombo High Court.

The High Court deferred the case for November 16 as per the circular issued by the Judicial Servic poste Commission due to the spread of the coronaviru­s.

The Attorney General had filed indictment­s against Finance Minister and former Director-general of Divi Neguma Department in the Colombo High Court for allegedly misappropr­iating Rs.36.5 million funds belongs to the Divi Neguma Developmen­t Department to purchase and distribute GI pipes during the 2015 Presidenti­al Election.
