There are 26,536 properties within Colombo city whose ownership has not been registered, CMC Commission­er Roshanie Dissanayak­e revealed.

As per a recent paper advertisem­ent by the CMC with the signature, there are 26,536 properties in 47 wards of CMC area without ownership registrati­on. This informatio­n has been published on the CMC website as well.

According to the data some 5,491 properties have been unregister­ed in Fort while 6,091 are unregister­ed in Mahawatte. In addition there are 1,500 unregister­ed properties in Bambalapit­iya and 837 in Havelock town. The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has urged private property owners in the city limits who have not registered with CMC to register their ownership before November 30 this year.
