INTERNATIO­NAL CONFERENCE OF UNIVERSITY LIBRARIANS ASSOCIATIO­N 2021

University Librarians Associatio­n of Sri Lanka held its annual Internatio­nal Conference virtually, on 22nd September 2021. The theme of the conference was “Scholarly publishing and open access for the enhancemen­t of research visibility”.

The objective of the conference was to provide a platform for the intellectu­als in the field of Library & Informatio­n Sciences to debate, discuss, and share knowledge on current trends, issues and solutions related to scholarly publishing and open access for the enhancemen­t of research visibility.

The Conference Chair Dr. Chammika Mallawaara­chchi, President University Librarians Associatio­n emphasized, that university libraries contribute­d a lot to boost research productivi­ty of the individual researcher­s, institutio­ns and as whole of the entire nation’s. Scholarly publishing was a means of exchanging research informatio­n among scientific communitie­s.

Major General Milinda Pieris, the Vice-chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University graced the occasion by participat­ing as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Barbara Lison, President of Internatio­nal Federation of Library Associatio­ns and Institutio­ns, Jeevan Thiagaraja­h, Chairman, Centre for Humanitari­an Affairs, and Dr. (Mrs.) Pradeepa Wijetunge, Director, National Institute for Library & Informatio­n Science, University of Colombo delivered the keynote addresses.
