NDB Bank to transform future of banking

The world is experienci­ng a period of rapid change. With past behaviours changing due to the disruption caused by the pandemic, technology has stepped into facilitate new behaviors as societies move forward in the new normal.

This is true even in the financial services arena with the increase in cashless transactio­ns, the use of smart devices and digital platforms to deliver unique banking experience­s, banks find themselves having to transform to stay ahead.

NDB, as a bank has always been at the forefront of the move to digital technology with pioneer digital solutions like NEOS online and mobile banking.

Fueled by its ambitious Voyage 2025 Strategy, NDB is combining the most advanced technology and innovation to redefine what the future of banking would look like for its customers. At a time where minimum contact with others was encouraged, NDB introduced the NEOS Pay feature through NEOS app, a QR payment method through which customers can make payments to merchants, pay other bills, all the while having access to banking transactio­ns via the same platform.

This positioned NDB NEOS as the first in Sri Lanka to enable banking and merchant transactio­ns in one single app. Adding further convenienc­e, customers of other banks have also been given the ability to register for NDB NEOS using their other bank account details.

This capability is facilitate­d via the Justpay network and enables other bank customers to carry out merchant and bill payments using QR code facility through the NEOS app.

Adding to the many firsts the Bank has achieved in its digital evolution, is the launch of the latest video KYC (VKYC) based account opening process. VKYC verificati­on utilizes artificial intelligen­ce (AI) technology enabling customers to open NDB accounts from the comfort and safety of home, without having to visit a branch. Additional­ly, the Bank also became the first in the industry to tie up with the Credit Informatio­n Bureau (CRIB) in order to create a hassle free and convenient service in which the bank’s customers can register and request for their individual credit reports (ireport) and individual credit score reports (CRIB Score) from wherever they are in Sri Lanka through NDB NEOS.
