CIPM concludes 5th HRM Research Symposium on high note

CIPM Sri Lanka – the nation's leader in human resource management, announced the successful completion of its 5th CIPM Internatio­nal Research Symposium on HRM 2021 via virtual platforms, recently providing a unique forum for scholarly contributi­ons towards the advancemen­t of the national and global HR fraternity.

Organized by the CIPM Standing Committee on Applied Research and Knowledge Centre, this year's theme was 'Global Crises and Future of Work' with special emphasis on the effectiven­ess of HRM practices in the performanc­e of private, public, and NGO sector organizati­ons locally and internatio­nally.

The Research Symposium also provided a unique forum for HR practition­ers, researcher­s, faculty, and students to present their scholarly contributi­ons on contempora­ry HR issues to disseminat­e and recognize their research findings.

President CIPM Sri Lanka Jayantha Amarasingh­e, Chief Guest of the Symposium, Senior Prof. Sam path a mara tun ge, Chairman, University Grants Commission, Sri Lanka, Keynote Speaker, Dr. Aquilbusra­i, CEO, Aquilbusra­i Consulting, India, Prof. (Dr.) Prasadini Gamage and Indika Kaluarachc­hige were grace the occasion.

The symposium comprised an inaugural session, panel discussion, technical sessions were encompassi­ng seven tracks, a case study session, and a valedictor­y session.

Several well-known HRM practition­ers, academics, national and internatio­nal HRM researcher­s, and the CIPM EX-CO contribute­d to the dynamic sessions.

A record 400 plus attendees participat­ed in the symposium. Technical sessions were chaired by Dr. Richard Wickramara­tne, Prof. T. Mangaleswa­ran, Prof. H. M. A. Herath, Prof. Sivalogada­san, Prof. Susimaweli­gamage, Prof Aruna Shantha Gamage and Prof. Kumudini Dissanayak­e and were co-chaired by Dr. Lasanthika Sajeevanie, Dr. Padmini Jayasekera, Dr. Jayarani Ramawickra­ma, Dr. Kumudu Jayawarden­a, Dr. Yogarajah Nanthagopa­n, Dr. Sheshika Kariyapper­uma and Dr. Ruwan Abeysekera. Case study session was Chaired by Janaka Kumarasing­he and Co-chaired by Ken Vijayakuma­r and Priyantha Ranasinghe. Prof. Prasadini Gamage chaired the valedictor­y session, and winners of the Best Paper and the Best Presenter were announced under each track.

Notably, the Symposium's published its conference proceeding­s which comprised over 500 pages, including 47 research papers, a Case study book with success stories of seven leading companies during the pandemic and the Journal of HRM Perspectiv­es of CIPM.

Commenting on the success of the event, CIPM President, Mr. Jay ant ha a mara sing he said ,“The 5th CIPM Internatio­nal Research Symposium on HRM 2021 has successful­ly turned a new page in CIPM/IPM history especially during the pandemic by concluding a great scholarly event not only for the academic world but also adding foods for the brain creating and sharing knowledge for the betterment of the national and global HR fraternity. The hard work of our Standing Committee must be commended.”
