Following reports that businessma­n Thirukumar Nadesan and his wife Nirupama Rajapaksa had fled the country to an undisclose­d location following the allegation­s levelled against them in the Pandora Papers, Nadesan told Daily Mirror yesterday he and his wife were very much in

“We have not run away to any other country and we do not intend to do so. I have requested for an independen­t investigat­ion into the allegation­s, so why should my wife and I leave? All these allegation­s are baseless,” Nadesan said.

He further said he had been summoned to the Bribery Commission today and would appear to address the allegation­s levelled against him.

The Commission to Investigat­e Allegation­s of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has summoned Thirukumar Nadesan to appear before the Commission today to record a statement with regard to allegation­s revealed in the Pandora Papers.

An official at the Commission said Nadesan had been summoned to record a statement after they launched an investigat­ion following the directive of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
