Sanken to develop JW Marriott Resort in Maldives

-

Sanken Overseas (Private) Limited, last year’s NCE award winner for Sri Lanka’s highest net foreign exchange earner, has initiated the development of an 80 villa luxury resort to be operated under the JW

Marriott brand.

The company has partnered with HIMA Holdings, the Maldivian owners of Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives and their long-time partner Orca Holding, a global hospitality specialised investor to carry out this landmark project in the Maldives, at a very prime location.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Sanken Group Deputy CEO Mevan Gunatilleke appreciated the Sri Lankan banks NTB and DFCC for their robust assistance with strategic projects and emphasised the importance of similar novel models to bring foreign exchange to Sri Lanka. Sanken continues to contribute to more than 80 percent of Sri Lanka’s export income from construction services.

For nearly three decades, JW Marriott has evolved to own an enviable niche in the growing luxury tier within Marriott International, the strongest hospitality brand in the world.
