Three parties advocate electoral reforms based on PR system

Says such a system ensures fair representa­tion for all

Three political parties- Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), Ahila Ilangai People’s Congress and National People’s Power (NPP) which is an alliance led by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (Jvp)stressed the need for electoral reforms based on proportion­al representa­tion (PR), Daily Mirror learns.

They informed the parliament­ary select committee working on electoral reforms that such a system ensures fair representa­tion for all.

They also advocated preferenti­al voting. NPP MP Dr. Harini Amarasuriy­a said at least 50 per cent of slots on the National List should be reserved for women.
