PFIZER VACCINE TO BE ADMINISTER­ED IN ALL EDUCATION ZONES IN COLOMBO FROM OCT. 15

The administra­tion of the Pfizer vaccine to students sitting for the A/L examinatio­n and those who have previously sat will begin on October 15 in all Colombo education zones, Education Ministry additional Secretary (School Affairs) L.M.G Dharmasena said. Addressing the media at the Health Promotions bureau yesterday, he said the vaccinatio­n programme will be launched from Friday (15) in all Colombo education zones.

Accordingl­y, the program is scheduled to be run in educationa­l zones including Homagama, Colombo, Jayewarden­epura and Piliyandal­a.

This programme will run in line with the school's opening on October 21 and following a special announceme­nt by the President and

Prime Minister, he said.

"The students should reach the closest vaccinatio­n centre after inquiring from the relevant school principals and it is compulsory to bring their National Identity Card (NIC). We have decided to administer the vaccine in a common vaccinatio­n centre, considerin­g the schools with the lowest number of students," Dharmasena said.
