ACCA is well-recognized and highly respected global qualification which when achieved is a designation to be proud of, and provides it ‘srecipients a career pathway and unmatched in the finance industry .
Embeding innovations that are critical to the changes happening around the accountancy and finance world, a significant number of members have benefited from it’s learnings,who have alwaysbeen willing to share their pride in being an ACCA member.
Amongst them is Sajinduperera who is currently the Manager - Finance at MAS Intimates (Pvt) Limited, the largest Business Division of MAS Holdings, a USD 1.8 Billion enterprise and one of South Asia’s largest Intimate Apparel manufacturers. She provides leadership to the Management Information Team responsible for spearheading the strategic finance arm in driving organizational strategy, performance and goal congruence whilst also leading the Finance Integration Unit responsible for managing and optimizing the working capital requirements of the company. Having joined the company in 2015 as a Business Analyst, shehas gained extensive knowledge and experience through her exposure in the multiple facets of the business including Finance, Corporate Planning and Strategy.
Having Chosen ACCA as her qualification of choice Sajindu having always had a passion for finance enrolled for the ACCA qualification the day after she had sat for her final Cambridge Advanced Level paper. Sajindu with the keenness and ability in numbers was able to secure multiple prizes in the ACCA qualification for subjects such as Financial Accounting, Performance Management and Governance, Risk & Ethics at Sri Lankan level while also ranking among the Top 5 in the World.
She was also ranked as the ACCA Top Affiliate 2015, and was awarded the 2nd Place in Sri Lanka that year, whilst parallelly going on win a first-class distinction for her BSC. in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University and a Diploma in International Financial Reporting Standards, all of which were opportunities she gained by studying for the ACCA qualification, that enables their students to study for these degrees. .
As a recognition of her outstanding achievements both academically and professionally, she has been appointed as the Chapter Leader for Oxford Brookes University in Sri Lanka providing her the opportunity to connect and collaborate with the OBU Alumni in Sri Lanka and across other International Chapters - a truly rewarding experience to exchange knowledge, best practices, cultures and thinking.
She also represents Sri Lanka as part of the ‘ACCA Global Leaders of Tomorrow’ work group which focuses on identifying the key drivers of change that will impact the future generations and work towards building a set of skills and competencies that will better guide and direct young professionals.
Speaking of her journey as an ACCA member Sajindu stated “I began small by being an active member of the ACCA Students’ Council in Sri Lanka and then went onto serve as the Secretary of the ACCA Students Council 2014/15. I was also an active member of several working committees of the ACCA Sri Lanka division and am now driving the member advocacy program for ACCA.
Sajindu’ mother, a thrilled parent of her daughters achievements said “ACCA was the foundation of Sajindu’s journey and provided her with a pathway to excel in her career and provide her the landscape to grow and flourish as a professional in the corporate world. It was one of the best choices she could have made in terms of a qualification.
