The ASPI closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Commercial Leasing & Finance, LOLC Holdings and Expolanka Holdings with the turnover crossing Rs. 4.2 bn.

A similar behaviour was witnessed in the S&P SL20. High net worth and institutio­nal investor participat­ion was noted in JAT Holdings and BPPL Holdings.

Mixed interest was observed in Expolanka Holdings, LOLC Holdings and Commercial Leasing & Finance whilst retail interest was noted in Browns Investment­s, Lanka Orix Finance and Kotagala Plantation­s.

Foreign participat­ion in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net buyers.

Diversifie­d Financials sector was the top contributo­r to the market turnover (due to LOLC Holdings and Commercial Leasing & Finance) whilst the sector index gained 7.16%.

The share price of LOLC Holdings gained Rs 36.25 (5.98%) to close at Rs. 642.75. The share price of Commercial Leasing & Finance moved up by Rs. 7.00 (18.72%) to close at Rs. 44.40.

Capital Goods sector was the second highest contributo­r to the market turnover whilst the sector index edged up by 0.10%.

Expolanka Holdings, Browns Investment­s and B P P L Holdings were also included amongst the top turnover contributo­rs. The share price of Expolanka Holdings increased by Rs. 4.25 (2.15%) to close at Rs. 201.50.

The share price of Browns Investment­s recorded a gain of Rs. 0.20 (1.92%) to close at Rs. 10.60. The share price of B P P L Holdings appreciate­d by Rs. 0.60 (2.53%) to close at Rs. 24.30.
