Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2021 to be held on Dec. 6 and 7

-

Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2021 (SLES 2021) is scheduled to be held on December 6 and 7 as a hybrid summit, catering to participants who would join online as well as participate in-person at Shangri-la Hotel.

The theme for the 21st Sri Lanka Economic Summit is based on creating an environment that will be a springboard for revival with leveraging on the opportunity to utilise this period to reset.

SLES 2021 will bring together key policymakers, business leaders, top international thought leaders and experts in discussing this environment. The theme has been suitably chosen as Sri Lanka recovers from the pandemic-related impacts while navigating external debt concerns as it rebuilds back better.

The summit recognises the need to balance growth priorities, manage the debt dynamics while facilitating more export inflows. As such, the sessions on Day 1 are focused around creating this enabling environment at a macro level while encouraging public private partnership. The sessions on Day 2 are focused on enhancing our current export products and services while rethinking new strategies to drive other export sectors – in this process, identify what will be part of this road map to drive exports.

The summit will also have a session focusing on the tourism sector as the country opens up to welcome tourism and navigates some of the new challenges in global travel. With the six sessions on Sri Lanka’s Opportunity to Reset in the New Global Norm, Setting the Macro Foundation for Growth, Public-private Sector Collaboration in Seizing the Opportunity to Reset, Charting a Path towards a Technology Hub, Resetting the Export Portfolio, New Instruments Springboard for Exports and Survival to Recovery: Reviving Tourism Inflows, the Ceylon Chamber anticipates over 1,000 participants to join the hybrid summit, including participants from various other countries as in the past.

Participants have the opportunity to register online from https://chamber.lk for the entire two-day summit or choose the sessions of their choice. The chamber looks forward to delivering a unique, digitally transformed experience to all participants in addition to in-person participation at Shangri-la Colombo this year.
