He does not pander to party supporters!

-

Acertain purohita at state level who was elected from a district in the Western province with a large majority of votes has become unpopular among the party supporters in the district, they say.

The reason is that the purohita would never issue a letter of recommendation signed by himself to a party supporter. If anyone comes to him seeking a letter of recommendation from him for some purpose, he would refer that person to a secretary of his to whom he had delegated authority to sign such recommendation letters on his behalf.

A businessman in the district who had heavily campaigned for the purohita at the last general polls incurring much expenditure had recently requested the purohita to issue him a letter of recommendation for some purpose, but he had received the shock treatment from the purohita, they say.

The general experience of the people who call on the authorities concerned armed with the recommendation letters signed by the purohita’s secretary, they ( the authorities) would throw such letters into the waste paper basket and tell such people to bring a recommendation letter signed by the purohita himself.

By the way, a local politico who too had campaigned for the purohita had required a letter of recommendation from a purohita and when the purohita in question refused to sign the letter himself, he had approached another political bigwig elected from the same district, but the latter had shown him the door saying, “you worked hard for the victory of the other person. You had better get the letter you require from him!”
