THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT CAME ALIVE

-

The Christmas spirit came alive with full force in all of us who heard our most popular singing duo, the De Lanerolle Brothers sing at The Colombo Hilton last week. They had four performances , which one would have thought were humanly impossible. Mala and I went together to the lunchtime performance, and I was touched by her tender, loving care. We sat together, listened in awesome wonder to the singing they sing together in such perfect harmony. Rohan as usual the showman doing most of the talking, while the shyer Ishan smiled at his brother's humour. They took us through many popular songs ' Marry Me',' I dreamed a dream',' New York',' Unchained Melody' and the second half were all perennial Xmas favourites including 'Silent Night', 'silver Bells', 'Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer',' Jingle Bells' and my favourite ‘Blue Christmas' which brings nostalgic memories of my childhood of my late parents and later of my late husband. They were later joined on stage by their children, Rohan's sons and Ishan's daughter who sang on their own and with their fathers, showing exceptional talent. I must also pay a tribute to the superb organisation by the Colombo Hilton.

Staff came up to some who had removed their masks and politely requested them to put them on again, and the lunch was excellent. We managed to get to the buffet fast, got a table for two and left soon too. A most memorable afternoon, like all other De Lanerolle Brothers Performances with Kumar de Silva being a superb MC as always.
