Main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday urged President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to come for a dialogue with them and understand the real extent of the forex crisis Sri Lanka is facing at the moment.

SJB MP Harsha de Silva told a press conference that the president should not listen to those who sing his praises and at least come for a dialogue with them and understand the depth of the crisis.

“We would like to request the president to come for a dialogue and find out the depth of the forex crisis for himself.

Also we would like to tell the president to seek the opinion of independent economic experts and take appropriate action to arrest the forex issue,” he added.

He also alleged that Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal was trying to mislead the people by saying there is no forex crisis in the country, despite the visible shortages of medicines and other essential items.

“A CEO can mislead others in his company and lead the company to bankruptcy but one cannot mislead the people of a nation,” he said.
