Project Chairperson News Paper Supplement 2021/2022
Let me appreciate all the Clubs in the District 306 A-1 for their innovative projects to support the low income earners in our society during a year of turbulence. In addition to serving the less fortunate our members has continuously supported the tree planning projects to protect our enviornment. You will see some of the project pictures in this supplement.
The lionistic Year 2021/2022 was so challenging one for the Lions, Businesses and for all Sri Lankans at large. To me as a Sri Lankan the saddest and most ashamed day for all of us was the 12th April 2022 when we declare bankruptcy stating that we are unable to pay our debt. We saw during the last few weeks how the things have changed and how much suffering each one had to go though.
We can be proud as Lions after a very successful year of performance with large number of humanitarian projects which immensely benefited the less fortunate community in our district and beyond. We should appreciate the efforts of our District Governor Lion Umashanker Bagirathan and his able team who led the district with passion and enthusiasm. In addition it is appropriate to congratulate the good work of the entire convention steering committee and the advisors who are ready to make a more meaningful and less colourful convention tomorrow. I should make a special appreciation to our convention steering committee members supported to get the required ads for this supplement.
“Exceptional Contributions to the Society” – In this convention we will be honoring a few individuals and an organization who have made a truly exceptional, sustained contribution which provides inspiration for others, has influenced change, made an impact and demonstrable contribution to the community. I would like to congratulate them for their great contribution to our motherland.
