SL’S ODI series against Pakistan scrapped

-

Sri Lanka’s home ODI series against Pakistan later this year has been scrapped, with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) planning to stage the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) during that period.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the decision, on SLC’S request, considering that the series was not part of the World Cup Super League.

Pakistan were originally scheduled to play two Tests and three ODIS in July-august.

“Sri Lankan board (SLC) wants to start their league a week ago to reduce the financial deficit, so they asked us to remove the ODI series, which was accepted,” PCB Director Media Sami-ul-hasan was quoted by media as saying.

The two-test series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle, the first time the teams meet since Sri Lanka toured Pakistan in 2019.
