Athletics, volleyball and football tournaments postponed indefinitely
Three national level tournaments organised by Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA), Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) and Football Sri Lanka (FSL) have been postponed indefinitely.
The Champions League football tournament organised by Football Sri Lanka (FSL) which was scheduled to commence on May 13 has also been put off.
Officials of athletics, volleyball and football have made this decision owing to the uncertain situation in the country.
The Junior Athletic National was to serve as final trial for the World Junior Under-20 Athletic Championship to be held in Colombia from August 3 to 7. Four athletes have already qualified for this event.
Meanwhile, the Junior Nationals will be held after the G.C.E. (O/L) which begins on May 23, according to SLA Senior Vice President G.L.S. Perera.
The 2022 Munchee Super League National Volleyball championship was to begin on May 9 at the Volleyball House Indoor Stadium in Dadella, Galle with the preliminary rounds but it has been postponed.
All arrangements had been made to begin the 2022 Champions League on May 13 but it had to be postponed, FSL President Umar Jaswar said.
