Why he declined the offer!

The second chair of the Diyawanna council fell vacant when the holder of this office, a Blue party politico from Sabaragamuwa resigned.

Meanwhile, at a meeting between the Blue party group and the members from constituent parties of the Pohottuwa, an invitation was extended to the politico who already held the position to continue to hold it since it was an office assigned to the Blue party.

However, the Sabaragamuwa politico was adamant in declining the position. Therefore, some Blue party Diyawanna members made discreet inquiries why the Sabaragamuwa politico was averse to holding it.

Then only they discovered that he was eyeing a purohita position instead!

Presently, the Blue party seniors decided to offer the second chair to another party member and made it a point to convey the message to the Sabaragamuwa politico that he would not be considered for any other high office either!

Thereafter, the Sabaragamuwa had hastily expressed his consent to accept the second chair of the council! He knew that he had become a joke by accepting a position which he resigned from earlier. However, there was a plausible reason for it for this second chair paved the way for the Blue party to get an office room in the Diyawanna building complex!
